Mazda Miata Tie-Down Removal

      Tools required:
    • 14mm open-end wrench
    • Ratchet wrench
    • Ratchet long and short extensions
    • 14mm socket
    Mazda Miata Tie Down hooks were not intended to be used for towing. These were put in the car to secure the vehicle during transit. Using them for towing could damage the vehicle unibody frame.

    Follow this five easy steps for Miata Tiedown removal.


    Step 1:
    Locate the three 14mm bolts used to attach the Tie Down Hooks behing the bumper.

    Step 2:
    Using your open-end wrench, remove the bolt further forward firts then the remaining two.

    Step 3:
    Using the 14mm socket and extension, remove the remaining two bolts.

    Step 4:
    Pull the Tie Down brackets out throug the back of the bumper.

    Step 5:
    Repeat steps 2 thru 4 for the other side.


    Notes:

    • It's a good idea to safe keep your factory tie down hooks in the event that you want to bring your beloved roadter to its original factory conditions.

    • It could be a good idea to save the tie down bolts by screwing them back into place.
